I used to co-run an artist commune/venue in Seattle about 12 years ago. My room was attached to the main show room and I would often have to work at 8AM the next day. So, in an attempt to get people to go home, to ensure I could get at least 4 hours of sleep, I'd blast Swans (often Filth), This Heat, Merzbow, and/or Diamanda Galás. It worked like a charm most of the time.

On rare occasion it backfired and sparked engagement. However, those folks were worth engaging with so... it was a pleasant inconvenience. 🙂
