To customize diecast cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, Chinese knock offs and basically any others there are basic necessities that are critical to the success of the finished product. I walk through the different levels of modification from easy to hard, give tips and tricks and overview the proper tools that will help you achieve the results you are chasing. In this video I speak about wheel swaps, paint jobs, full blown customs, race cars and post apocalyptic Gaslands build materials. Every job is different and the tools you apply to the process should vary with each project you take on. This video is a base guideline for the bare essentials getting into the hobby and reaching a quality finished product. By no means am I asserting that you go buy all of the tools that I talk about here. It is only a starting point to wrap your head around what you may need to go up against that dream project you have visualized. This hobby and video are not intended for children under 14 years of age. We use sharp tools and harmful chemicals. The intentions of the "Let's Talk" series is to give back to the community by providing valuable information that I have learned in my experience in this hobby. Some of the materials I talk about are a power drill, working with a pin vice, Rust-Oleum paints, Games workshop technical paints, Apple Barrel acrylics and many other tools to make your job easier and save you money. The one thing I did not mention in the video was the use of "helping hand". They can be found for $5 at harbor freight. I hope this video brings value to the experience as a beginner in the diecast modification hobby. Thank you for watching.

I can tell this is a good guy just by the comment section. He replied to all 155 comments and was even nice to the mean comments, the video was good quality and very helpful.👍👍

Kid at heart, have to love it. You are one of the you tubers that inspired me to start my own diorama and car customization journey.

An honest video full of tips for all those looking at making customs, or like me fixing the cars, and restoring them.

You are absolutely right about not spending too much. Keeping things cheap and manageable is what it's all about.

Definitely going to steal a couple cars from my kids and make some Gaslands cars. I'm not super into cars, but I love trying to get things done. Thank you for all the tips.

I've started Gaslands and found that nail polish remover works well, with taking off decals without removing car paint, just put some on a paper towel and rub till decals are gone. Bonus, if you want the paint gone, then light wire brush and soak it and use soft brush, wipe clean.

I don’t think anyone truly understands the amount of work, equipment, time and money goes into making customs until they start. Everyone thinks oh yeah I can make a custom. It’s one of those hobbies you either need to dedicate a lot of time, money and resources into, or you attempt one and then just give up lol 😂. Sometimes I miss the simple days of just a good old wheel swap lol 😂.

One tip is you can find self tapping screws to screw the base to the body. Love this video it’s excellent

Not boring at all it was very informative and I subbed. I do believe you touched up on all of the most important aspects of the hobby. Then your honesty and the way you react to negative dispositions are outstanding. Makes me feel like I can trust your words and opinions and this is very important to me. Thank you.

I started collecting hotwheels again this past December (2022) and been collecting just one car of whatever i like, etc.

One day I was out with my dad and we were looking for something at Canadian tire, I turned a corner after stopping to look in a dump bin, and he was there looking at a few hotwheel pegs. We both are car/truck guys he used to have HW as a kid and collected a few through the years. And growing up my brother and I got cars.

Anyways told him about the dump bins so we went and looked through, never thought id be doing that with him but it was fun, found more of the old chevy (i have 3) and he wanted it and found more, he got all 3 and he mentioned customizing, I had kinda thought about it but after that I want to do it after watching videos.
So ive got some doubles of some cars i like here and there.

Precise and to the point. Don’t waste money if you don’t have to. Bit bashing with every day stuff is the way to go. Only spend it if you need it. I knew that all the recycling stuff I was throwing out had a purpose but did not know it till I saw JH Miniatures and that’s when it hit me like a lightning bolt ⚡️ all this time I’ve been throwing this stuff out. His Trash van vid is fantastic also his intro reminds me of yours. And I’m near construction sites with so many bits and stuff and you know I’m picking that stuff up. Also love outlaw speed shop. That guy is fantastic. And the tabletop engineer. Great teachers and tutorial videos. Looking forward to your vids brother. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the comprehensive video! I’ve been wanting to customize a 1970 el Camino to have the right paint and wheels to match the one my dad just got as a gift for him and this has been really helpful
