English translation:
They are together, they are sitting together in prison.
They are sitting together at Nongqongqo.
Here he is,
here he is,
here is Sobukwe.
Here he is in prison,
Baba Luthuli!
What is your sin?
There he is,
there he is
there is Mandela.
There he is, there he is in prison.
There he is,
there he is
there is Sisulu.
There he is, there he is in prison.
What’s wrong with us Africans?
No, what have you done wrong,
what have you done wrong?
they are together,
they are sitting together in prison,
they are sitting together at Nongqongqo.

Love that the immortal Mama Africa names so many of the greatest South African anti-apartheid heroes in this greatest of songs -- musically, lyrically, its power, its significance.

The part i love in this song its when Mariam Makeba mentions Robert Sobukwe cause we all know we have been shielded from the thoughts of this great Pan Africanist named Sobukwe whose voice has been intentionally erased in the South African politics.... hail to to you unsung son of the soil..I salute

This is my favorite song on this album. As a child, it brought tears to my eyes. I didn't understand the language but I felt this song deep in my soul!

My mom used to play this album so much back in the 60s, I actually can sing all the songs but had no idea what the words meant as a child. As an adult the songs mean so much more now that I know their meanings.

This song reminds me my late brother who passed away at exile in 1985. followed by my late father in 1990 due to the violance between inkatha and ANC. This traumatize my mother big time. She felt sicked and lost her last job that she was supporting her family with it. She is still traumatise even today. Because her son faught for nothing.
