2005 BMW 545i: New project/daily driver

In this video we take a look at my new daily driver. It is also a project. It is a 2005 BMW 545i. Has a N62 V8 engine and 6 speed manual transmission. Also has sport package, active steering and dynamic drive. I plan on fixing everything wrong with this car and enjoying it.

I have a 2005 545 and it does not burn oil and the cooling tube under the intake does not leak so far but i am watching and waiting, she has 145000 on it and the only break down i have EVER had was the water pump broke in half, $126 later and i was back on the road, has been a fantastic car

Man.. I had an 05 545i 6 speed as well and boy do I think about that car often. After getting everything sorted (water pump, coolant leaks, alternator and the oil filter housing gasket) fixed it was such an enjoyable car. This car has such a great throttle response and a simple exhaust can really liven up the car. Now moved up to a more relaible n55 2011 f10 6 speed I do think about that car often.

One thing people also don't talk about these is how good the gas mileage is for a 4.4 liter v8. I would consistently get high 27-30 mpg on the highway.

I have owned a 2004 545 6sp for 10 years. I think of it as my high maintenance girlfriend. It gets cranky and costs me $$ but, when it’s performing, oh baby!

Recommend replacing ebox fan if haven't . You can also install an oil cooler from the newer 550i models on it. Mine has it stock cause hot weather package. I've replaced tons of coolant stuff with it but honestly the oil leaks haven't gotten any worse(so far) in 3 years, if anything gotten better. Good oil and good gas go a long ways in these. You WILL feel the differences.

I have never liked BMW and now everyone should realize why. Pieces of junk. I'll watch though as it is always interesting what you do.
