Nintendo busy upgrading Physical cartridge, Sony and Xbox busy killing Physical games. I rather put my money o company that support Physical.

In 2024 I purchased a copy of Mario Tennis Aces and I was surprised to find that it didn't have to download any updates. I thought something was wrong at first but when I checked the version number it was already the latest version. Very nice surprise.

all Patches and DLC that you download to switch, should be automatically transfered to game cartridge (or better yet ask for permission, and also a way for you to delete patches/dlcs content that was uploaded to game cartridge), that is the best possible way, future proof and no game cartridge will be wasted, and also who wants to buy day 1 physical game when we all know games will be patches day 1 and DLC are coming down the line? Buy the same game twice, is just evil. This needs to be Switch 2 standart practice, and also code in box needs to be straight up illegal

Recently picked up a copy of Scarlet and Violet with both DLC’s on cart. Saving the play through for switch 2 next week after I get my fill of Mario kart of course.

every revision should have a different cover art for consumers that care to know without going throuhh the hassle of guessing when buying a sealed game, especially from online retailers. or they could just slap ths revision number on the box

Also I found that 1st edition copy’s have 0000 or also an “A” on the barcode. Later prints or Black Friday Special Discount Prints have a different barcode on the back of the box.

1st print Runs always tend to be more rare

Kinda sucks if you’re a day one buyer though. I could easily see this impacting values of the games when Switch games are retro/ collectables.

I have a huge collection (1200+) and I won’t bother replacing old versions but I definitely see it being a sticking point for collectors in the future.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo first party games have like 0000 for first print or 0001 for reprint on back of case on barcode.

So retro Switch collectors in the future, would need the specific Switch console, or SD card, with the latest patches of the specific game…if they didn’t have the updated carts, or want to play the release version of the game, no?

What’s crazy is imagine owning every version of a Nintendo switch game for hardcore collectors and since it’s easy to fake it or since they’re so rare etc. it’s impossible to own version 1 of a game and if it has lots of other versions on cartridges out in the wild 😅
