Thought I’d comment here since it’s your newest video. Watched a bunch of your garage videos and was stunned they all looked like how my garage was built. Tie joists, angled joists, barely any meat to them. Then watched a few of your roof and truss videos and they looked exactly like how my home was built with the perling and ledger style. Was darned if this guy wasn’t in OC California and been in a home in my town since it seems there was only a few builders here in HB back in the 60s. All your garage videos were perfect for my plans to beef up storage in rafters in Garage.
Did a search and see you are in SoCal. Nice to see actual information that fits my need to a tee.. you have a new subscriber.

Good idea. We have our trades put mechanicals where they are convenient, (within reason) a little more planing and you could hide everything in some circumstances. 👌

I once opened up a "boob light" to replace a bulb or check the wiring since the homeowner said it never worked. You guessed it! The inside of the glass had some translucent spray coating. Once the glass was removed there was a p-trap protruding through the ceiling. Easy access I suppose!
(FYI at one point you mentioned a toilet, and the picture had a p-trap in it. Just mentioning because as you know a toilet has a built in p-trap.)

My plumber sometimes gets away with making the p-trap itself shallower to keep it above ceiling height.

Just goes to show bad design has ramifications...

Or... just go with the opposite direction of the problem by going with it. No ceilings and translucent plumbing with a central focus on the stack.

It could ignite the most interesting and comical conversation starters no matter who your guests are and who may be dropping a Cleveland Steamer in the bathroom at the time.
