I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian and I have a great deal of respect for Asatru. I see it as no threat to my own beliefs and I feel comfortable calling you brother.

Paganism is like coming home. I fell more connected to Wotan, Donar and Tyr, than to Jesus.

Ásatrú is definitely like coming home for me. When I was a child I remember my maternal grandmother who was outwardly Christian, but she was from Iceland and grew up with a lot of the “Old Ways” in her spirituality. She taught me the language and taught me who the gods were. It took me many years to come back full circle, but when I did it was all the way. Í have never experienced hatred from any in the pagan community as I did in Christianity, always acceptance. I feel at peace in nature and always know that the gods are close.

It's widespread, because it's what feels natural to our people. And because I think our people are realizing we're in trouble, European people are in trouble of being wiped out. I'm in America, and I practice our faith. Our people are in big trouble of we don't band together soon.

I will never understand hateful people reciting Bible passages. I don’t follow Christianity but it seems to me that Jesus did not advocate hate. If a person needs to take direction from the Bible, do whatever “it” says, they have never internalized values.

I'm on the opposite side of the world in New Zealand. I follow the old ways of the norse beliefs and try to live by the havamal. It would cost me ALOT of money and effort to move over there. But I just may. I'm 31. If I plan well; I may be able to move and live over there by 45-50.
Cheers bjorn :) I don't feel so alone when I visit you're community and listen to your soothing logic.

Asatru is Europe's natural state of being. It's not "becoming popular", it's returning after a thousand years or so of being repressed, after war and discrimination, after stake burnings and religious killings. It is the answer to this sick modern world, and the christians who herald it to their own detriment. It is people waking up to their roots and embracing them. Christianity didn't become so prevalent based on its values, but by the sword and fire, most practitioners forget that. Most christains are born into it, hardly know their material, think they know everything, and demand others follow suit, like the good sheep they are, and don't follow their own rules, if they're aware of them at all.

Everything christian is pagan in origin, many times over. Why has the "good book" been written and rewritten, with more than half of its original content omitted or stored underneath the Vatican? I guess we forgot about how many Charlemagne murdered to force locals to convert. Truth fears no investigation, so why doesn't the Vatican open their library?

Pagans influenced christians far more than christians have influenced them.

Good Day Bjorn, I have always called myself " Heathen ", It was the Christian Church, and School System, which first called me " Heathen ", So I thought If that was how they saw me, then that was what I Must be !, More at home in the woods, Day or Night, matters not to me , Be Well my Friend, Strength, Honour and Respect .

Wonderful discussion, Bjørn! Asatru's beliefs fit my lifestyle. It feels instinctual to me. I am deeply connected to nature, drawing both energy and calmness from the plants, animals and earth formations. I respect my ancestors and believe I am the result of thousands of lives and their genetic and spiritual memories. I define my morality from dignity and honor instead of a written list of "commandments". I wish more people could find strength and inspiration in this way of life. Tusen takk for alt du gjør, Bjørn!

Some soldiers and Vet's have an affinity or at least can relate to Norse Paganism more so then Christianity, maybe it was all the time growing up hearing that fighting is wrong and its used as a coping But it seems like a good fit for me

Got the newer strain of Covid recently. It was ok. Bad body aches for couple days, then sore throat and some weird feeling in arms and legs. Now it's just the normal sinus issues I get whenever I'm sick
