I love how Nat puts so much work into being multiple people in her videos

My attempt at the solutions in chronological order;
1) 5AM
- (12PM - 3hrs) + 2hrs + 6hrs = 5AM the day proceeding day ending original 12PM

2) Older Friend = 20 years old, younger sister = 15 years old
- The phrasing of this one was slightly ambiguous but when Natalie says "Anna's age will be half that of mine" she means Anna's *current age* will be half of what her older sister's age *would* *be* in 10 years. So let older sis be K and Anna be A;
A + 5 = K                         - - - (eqn. 1)
      A = (1/2) x (K + 10)    - - - (eqn. 2)
Substitute (eqn. 2) into (eqn. 1);
((K + 10) / 2) + 5 = K        - - - (eqn. 3)
Rearrange (eqn. 3) making K the subject;
K + 10 + 10 = 2K
                K = 20
Substitute K = 20 into (eqn. 1);
A + 5 = 20
      A = 15

3) 97 degrees
- By the axiom; "The sum of all internal angles of a triangle in the Euclidian plane must equal 180 degrees."
So, given two angles 38 degrees and 45 degrees, respectively;
x = 180 - (38 + 45)
x = 97

4) I'd just say 8 people's hands
- Psychologically, if everyone has decided to shake hands with everyone else exactly once then they should repeat the same procedure for 1 extra guest giving 8 hand shakes in total to this extra guest.

5) 1 hour
- Assuming constant speed for the two hours and that the speed of 40km/h was started at the same time as the 120km distance was known, then; 80km have been covered thus 40km remain. As the driver is traveling at 40 km/h this should take only 1 hour at constant speed to have covered the 120km.

When you don't usually finish porno music/comment time but then it's gone, and you miss it...

Did anyone else just have to solve all the equations?
1. It was 5am
2. Anna was -5years old?
3. x = 97º
4. 1hr left

I use to love solving those problems as a kid and I still do. I'm a software developer so I apply that kind of math almost everyday.

Love your vids by the way. You're hilarious.

For mobile users that want to answer the question at the end of the video:

that creeepy triangle was freaking awesome

Did YouTube just recommend me this because it's the 10 year anniversary of this video? I'm glad it did though. Still a banger.

If Nat used to make a new video every week then we had to wait 4 years then how long before the next video?

None of them, the answer is 3 hours, because in the question, it says that you have 120km until the destination, so even if you've been driving for 2 hours up to that point, you still have 3 hours to go.

@Vhozard Two points. First: You're changing around what she said. It's a closed statement: 'I have 120km to my destination'. That means she has 120km until her destination. Not what you imagine she says.

Second point. She says 'I have' which would infer current/present. You must talk backwards or something because anyone I know would take that as 'to go' or 'left'.

The age problem made no sense, the people would have to be -5 and newborn

Math can help you to figure that, when going from point A to point B in a city, when both points are on different streets which cross and are normal to each other, it's shorter to take a diagonal. But not in Manhattan, when all intermediate streets are parallel to the two streets mentioned above. The diagonal of a square is equal to the sum of the square's length, if you take the Manhattan distance :)

If you have been driving for two hours so far and you travel 40 kilometers per hour., then you would have driven 80 kilometers so far. If you have driven 80 kilometers so far, you have 40 kilometers to go, and to go 40 kilometers you would have to travel for one hour because you are travelling at 40 kilometers per hour.

OMG, I need to stop watching these videos! I have to study!

Actually some of the things we learn in High School we DO use, surprisingly... When I was 21 I had got a construction job (Beutler HVAC) where I was fabricating downspouts for houses. I had NO experience in construction. I needed to find out the third length of the triangle to make the downspout correctly fit the slope of the house. I used the Pythagorean Theorem. It was kinda funny because I was the only one that knew how to do it without calling the boss out for help. Nice vid. :-)

the reason for these types of questions isn't that they'll actually be asked in real life, but just to exercise your brain! you stimulate it with these types of problems. just like how you lift weights to play football, you're not actually gonna need to lift weights out on the field, they just helps your skills and to exercise your muscles!

A1 :  It is 5 am, assuming she is telling the truth.  But according to my watch, it is 5 min. after 1, pm. ... A2 :  They are the same age, for they are both being played by the same actress.  But if we assume she is telling the truth, then Anna must be negative five years old, yet to be born.  Perhaps one of them is a time traveller?... And why assume that time should flow at the same rate for everybody?  It is written that to the LORD, a day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day.  Perhapsthe rate at which a clock ticks varies depending upon where it is placed, like how temperature readings vary for a thermometer based on where it is located.A3 :  X is clearly, 90 degrees - what the other two angles are, I know not.  But if one was to assume that the triangle was poorly drawn, but correctly labelled, then X is equal to 97 degrees. ... A4:  We are not told at what speeds she was driving her "hypothetical car" for the last two hours, but since she still has 120 km to go, and assuming she is going to remain at a constant 40 km/hr, it would seem that it will take her 3 hours to get to her destination... But I have a feeling she is going to break her concentration and go to the fridge for a bite to eat.... So, I do not think she is going to reach her destination, but "give up"... Generally speaking, the visuals get in the way, if a person is speaking truthfully, one can close one's eyes, and see with one's ears.  As it is written, We walk by Faith, not by sight. ... Would you trust this person with your life?  "OK, now you need to take two short steps to your right, .. no wait, my left."

All the angles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees. So, 45 + 38 + x = 180, collect like terms, 83 + x = 180, subtract 83 from 180, x = 180 - 83, x = 97 degrees(I don't know how to make degree signs on a computer :3) Glad I could help :P
