Kingdom of Heaven is a 2005 epic historical drama film directed and produced by Ridley Scott and written by William Monahan. It features an ensemble cast comprising Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Ghassan Massoud, Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis, Brendan Gleeson, Edward Norton, Marton Csokas, Liam Neeson, Michael Sheen, Velibor Topić and Alexander Siddig.

The film is a heavily fictionalised portrayal of the events leading to the Third Crusade, focusing mainly on Balian of Ibelin who fights to defend the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem from the Ayyubid Sultan Saladin.

I sat here for a minute comforted by this edit because this is more or less exactly what my buddy told before he was shipped off to Iraq. My dad passed away from cancer early into my childhood but I had good memories of him. The night my buddy left for Iraq we were sharing some drinks outside on a cool night watching the stars, and he said “If I die over there, I’ll tell your old man how cool of an asshole you’ve become.” We laughed at that. He never came home from Iraq.

One of my favorite quotes from this movie. It almost gives you a new perspective on death. Once you've accepted that Death will take all of us, there's a sort of freedom that comes with it. Our stories are different, but we're all reaching the same ending.

1st I heard the line ALL DEATH IS CERTAIN in that exact scenario it was such profound feeling I can't even express. Best piece of Dialogue that Ive ever heard in any movie personally.

I was really taken with this movie. I know there are historical inaccuracies and Hollywood's dramatic license. Nevertheless, the depiction of King Baldwin IV and Salahadin, the portrayal of the times of the Crusades, the illustration of the political infighting - all culminated in a memorable experience for me.
