Always great to watch your video's. What I find nice is that you talk in a relaxed way so it is really easy to understand your English. Have watched several US video's where it feels like the presenter is trying to catch the last train..

I found in my case the audio from your device can be hit or miss especially for like Pocsag/Flex and unless you have a very strong signal it usually misses. The more tried and true way is to tap into the correct IF stage in your radio and with an interface (available) plug that into your computer com port. This method has given me 100% results. Again audio only maybe fine but maybe only if receiving strong signals, just my experience.

I’ve decoded pocsag messages - amount of personal data is unbelievable. How hospitals are not getting hauled over gdpr coals on this i dont know.

Pagers are still very much used in Australia as well, the biggest are Medical and emergency services.
We do have a few networks still active outside of the above 2, but they mainly just transit alarms and dat, with the odd personal message here and there

ambulance and firebrigade can easily be received in the Netherlands with PDW pocsag since the introduction of C2000 communication system for helpers.
in 2005. There are a lot of transponders spread over our country.

I'm using an SDR dongle setup in SDR# and VoiceMeeter to send the audio to PDW. That way I can use VoiceMeeter to listen to the audio or shut it off but still have it go to PDW. This is all on a PC.

Pocsag TX is possible with HackRF or Raspberry Pi (RPITX)

I find OpenEar SDR to be well better ..you dont have to mess around with audio levels if you plug and old dongle into windows. Its a slightly more sensitive decoder as well .

There are still zombie POCSAG transmitters in my area. They put out regular idle messages, but I know for a fact that none of the staff carry pagers

Good video for the beginner, but should mention that this can be done with the cheapest Chinese RTL-SDR USB Dongles that can be purchased online for $15! These can also be used to monitor the global CB Radio bands from 26 - 28 MHZ

Plenty of POCSAG and FLEX in IO90BS - like as others have said, some messages are interesting, but alot is quite upsetting (medical).

I've noticed that the emergency services can get a rough location from a cell phone, even when the caller does not give one. Looks like: "Mobile Phone Coordinates, Closest Area Detected.."

You're very lucky to have POCSAG at 153Mhz. I was rudely introduced to my 5 local POCSAG transmitters when I installed an outdoor antenna. Here they broadcast between 148.5Mhz and 148.9Mhz, nice and close to the 2m band.

My Marconi 2995R has built in POCSAG Transmit and Receive and my "R" version of the Marconi 2995 has an off air receiver. I have not dared to try and decode any POCSAG data, a friend has done it and was sickened by the nature of the pager messages. They can be EXTREMELY disturbing, especially if it is related to do with anything medical or an organ donor service.

Pocsag is not as popular as it used to be, the software worked well for me many years ago using discriminator output from a ham rig. Apart from the emergency services and railway traffic pagers were popular amongst "twitchers" who would send a lot of group messages.
