I find that my phone is the worst UCT. I use two: a notebook that sits on the side of my desk and a stack of 3x5 index cards in my pocket when I go out. It's much easier to pull out the cards and scribble a note than log on to the phone, then start an app and take a note.

I’m a huge GTD advocate and love the large (100 x 152) lined Post-It as a capture tool. Similar to a small notebook but notes can be stuck anywhere and/or scanned (4 fit on a single A4). Also incredibly useful for online Teams/Zoom meeting agendas and reminders as you can stick them at the side of your webcam. Having a good pen to write on them is also highly recommended - fortunate enough to have 2 great Lamy and MontBlanc fountain pens, which makes ideation and note compilation a joy.

Personally I haven’t carried around a smartphone for several years, and used to carry around a little notebook and pen but it’s nice to be able to travel light.

Now I use the ability to send an email via text message (I think technically it’s called MMS?) and many systems such as Todoist give you an email address to send things to your inbox. My phone also has nice speech-to-text, so I open it up, tap a few buttons, speak my note into the phone dictaphone style, then hit send. Job done, no distractions.

Thanks for the video!

Hello from France Carl ! Just discovered your channel and its a great help.
I just wanted to know:

-What app for capturing/and managing your tasks do you use?
-What calendar app do you use?
-And to finish what app/software do you use as a second brain?

Thanks again !

I took the COD course a few years ago and had already read the entire GTD book so understood collecting but wasn't using a task manager. I had a notes app though and took good care of what I curated. So it helped me figure out what parts of my system needed attention.

Interesting video. I always have a Levinger "jotlet" with me, which is about the size of your reporter's top-bound notepad. I use portrait orientation 3x5 lined index cards in mine. Cheap, I have the punch to use them, and they are fountain pen friendly.

Would be advisable to use a tool for projects, and goals and another one for tasks? When it comes to digital notes, do you have any recomendation between Evernote and Notion, for example. Thanks for your atention and congratulations for the post, very useful as usual.

I'd strongly disagree with the point that calendar and Todolist are best kept digitally. When I keep those things digitally I end up being distracted every time I check them. I use todoist for quick capturing but put the things into my bullet journal afterwards

Carl, thank you for the video. In your opinion, which task manager is the best?Best wishes for a joyous God's Day, alternatively known as Good Day in some regions.
