I'd have voted for Obama (in '08 and this year, if I were American), but I liked McCain a hell of a lot more than Romney. McCain always came across as a principled bloke, and even in defeat he was admirably humble. I felt a little sorry for him when did his post-defeat interview on Letterman, but he was willing to crack jokes at his own expense.

Yes, I agree. McCain was very moderate, even Reagan and George H.W. bush were very moderate. But the republican party has moved so far right, it makes no sense. Why can't the republicans be more like Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, or Ronald Reagan? Obama 2012

This is actually pretty ironic. In '08 McCain and Obama fought for the Presidency, tooth and nail, and McCain was actually pretty cool with Obama winning, denying his own Republican Party's claims about Obama's origins.
