I've got a 265 Cup. Had it from nearly new. Fantastic car.

I might go have a look at one in person in the next few days that I first saw online with 197k kms on the clock (around 122k miles). The mileage doesn't scare me as long as it's got a well documented history and there's nothing bad on there. Great insight.

Great video mate. I've got an 2011 RS 250 Trophy here in Ausland. I picked it up at a great price as it has over 210Km's on the clock. So far in my ownership it hasn't been too cheap though. Here are the things that have been done from the previous owner and myself...

1. Clutch & Solid Mass Flywheel at 180km's. Previous owner
2. Timing belt at 185km's. Previous owner
3. Replaced AC compressor and condenser at 208km's.
4. Lower Hub ball joint 211km's.

At this stage I have it booked in for a noisy front end. Some rubber must be split somewhere. The clutch that got replaced rattles like crazy at idle and shudders badly on take off. Thermostat needs to be replaced as I think its stuck open. Rear main seal looks like it needs to be done as well. So will probably just get the clutch and flywheel done at the same time, as the rattling really bothers me a lot. Thankfully I have access to a workshop through family, so must of this stuff will be done by me to drop the labour cost.

I love the car to death, and its such a different beast from my Monaro, which I love in the twisties. But yea I would say, for those that are looking to purchase one of these, really do your research or even better, take someone who's owned one with you to an inspection. These things can add up to be very expensive very quickly if they haven't been maintained. Cheers

Good review covering some valid points. I've had mine for 7 yrs now and had the swivel hub changed along with some cracked springs/top mounts recently, but the most expense came from a noisy diff bearing that had to be changed, expensive gearbox out job and then clutch changed as it was more cost effective to do it then.
I still forgive it all that when I take it down some twisty B road 😄

Nice guide.
The standard exhaust with a mid section delete (cost me £50) sounds so much better.
The standard seats do look crap but are actually really supportive and comfortable, they actually sit lower than the Recaros too.
Also gearbox mounts are prone to snapping on the 250's and Ph1 265's so definitely something to look out for.
The mileage on yours shows how long they can last if looked after. 👍👍

Am a bit late viewing, but wow what a great video presentation. Clear, high-knowledge and appealing. And your car looks stunning! I have a 2018 Alpine A110 but my daily driver is a 2012 VW Up with 107, 000 miles on it.. I was getting ideas about heading into a Megane RS of this era, and would have to accept relatively poor mpg along with higher insurance and tax. But my main concern is the gearbox, and how a 60k, many-owner one might be holding-up. I've had a Clio197 Cup, a Clio 200 EDC Lux and a 220 Trophy, and I must say I do miss these fast, FWD Renaults. I'm doing 50 miles per weekday for the commute, so I need to think carefully.

I'd make sure all engine components have been replaced with genuine ( OEM ) parts. Aftermarket parts on the rest of the car are fine....just don't cheap out with aftermarket engine parts.

I agree, the engine is reliable. Had mine from 2013 till now... Yes the suspension is the weak point of this car...

Don't listen to this guy. There will not be a single german competitor that will have the slightest chance against any Mégane R.S. model. No matter if its OPC/VXR, RS3, Golf R/GTI, AMG or any other Hot Hatch competitor. The Mégane will eat them all for lunch.
And you obviously have no idea about sound design. This car is one of the least modern cars that have a Unique sound. If you own or owned an Mégane yourself, you would notice it between 100 different cars. This is what makes this car stand out and so special compared to other modern cars
It needs lots of love and you need to know what to do. If you're good to it it will be good to you.
