The Mexican Revolution was a defining moment of the 20th century. The Mexican fight for democracy, equality, and justice sent shockwaves around the world. No other episode in its history has left a deeper mark. It is a three-act drama full of politics, persecution, and war, not to mention earthquakes, signs in the sky, and even spiritualist sessions, while being populated by larger-than-life villains, international spies, and the universally known figures of Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata. In fact, our modern idea of “revolution” owes much to what happened in this country between 1910 and 1920.

My grandmother told me stories about the revolution. Thank you to all that fought for freedom and right for the poor true owners of the land.

One quote that I love is from Zapata. It is best to die on your feet than to live the rest of your life on your knees.

I believe that this period in Mexican history should more accurately be called the Mexican Civil War. The real Mexican revolution was the War of Independence, which was back in the 1820s.

Doc Holiday and Billy The Kid fought along side Pancho Villa and Zapata. Wyatt Earp didn't want to get involved in the Mexican Revolution because he was retired.

Both of my great grandfathers fought in this war. My mom says that one of them recalls seeing a cart full of dead bodies that leaked a shit load of blood as the cart took off to bury those bodies. And then how they weren't allowed to have any roosters and other animals in order to stay hidden cause all the women would get raped and killed if they got captured.

Love learning about Mexico. I initially thought the revolution was to get rid of Spanish rule
