Out of completely nowhere, the blue-hued prankster, Quote, has joined the fray! Using his reliable Magic Paintbrush combined with his typical mischief-making antics, he'll be sure to leave his mark on the roster as a worthy fighter! Let's just hope he payed attention to Sensei's training this time around...

Absolutely perfect character for April Fools. This brings me back memories from when I was really into these Kirby Sprite battles, and Quote was always a very fun character in them for his paint ability. I adored the idea of these summon characters being actually cameos from other Lawls, giving it an unique spin rather than just summoning the random characters from Quote's videos. The rest of the moves were admittedly simple, but it's not like you'd want to see a memer god like Quote with a very complex and strategic moveset, plus they still had interesting mechanics with the fake Quotes and the aiming of the bombs.

Only gripe was FS, which I expected to be something that was kind of underwhealming considering the rest of the moveset, but it functions and it is still funny! Also those victories and taunts were a joy to see. Overall, great job Plums!

Mate, my nostalgia right now. 4-5 years ago I used to watch these sprite videos all the time, especially SquirrelKidd. Seeing this just brought back a wave of memories from ages ago. But obviously that alone isn't what makes this such a good video. For such an over the top character, you did really well to condense it into a single moveset. You managed to make his moveset chaotic and unpredictable without making any of the moves feel too random and unsafe to be used in a normal match - and that takes a lot of skill. Not only that, but Quote's easily got the best set of taunts/victory options so far (props for the Ainsley references). The animation is also looking the best it ever has, especially in that smooth as fuck 1080p 60fps. So yeah, this is easily my favourite moveset of Lawl Encore so far (even if the bait-and-switch part of it was pretty obvious). Keep up the good work.

I am not too familiar with Quote's source, but this makes me more interested to check it out! I really like the mechanic of the Neutral B, with how Quote paints clones of fighters from different spinoffs who function depending on what the opponent does to them. I also like how the Side B acts as a horizontal recovery and helps make some aerial combos, as well as the concept of the Down B, which spawns clones who don't attack directly but can slow down opponent's attacks if they are harmed. Plus, the animation was a major improvement over Ratboy Genius' set, which already had some great animation. I'm looking forward to what else comes in store with the update patch and the future characters in Encore too!

This moveset is probably my favorite so far in Lawl Encore! I liked Quote's various options, especially that Neutral B (and not just for the Quint cameo). I'm overall hyped for Isaac!

Here's some ideas for the Update Patch:

Kirbopher: A bit of confusion regarding the Neutral B. In the moveset video, it was depicted as a slow projectile, but in later appearances (such as in the Lawl Take 2 Update Patch and his standard showcase), it was shown as a static trap. Also, I'm not really sure how to really input the combination specials.

Ice Shard says that each shard has a 3% chance to freeze. Thats... really low as a freezing option.

Nico: Show how much her taunt buff affects her attack speed.
Her side special seems rather basic. I think there can be more you can do with it, but I'm not really sure how since I don't really know Nico's source.

Her final smash could also use a power boost. Either have the beats deal more damage or have there be more attacks in it or make it harder to dodge.

Madeline: I don't really know what to say for her balance-wise, but I think more of her standards should be showcased since she depends a lot on them.

Gay Spaghetti Chef:
Down B seems like a nearly impossible to punish heal. Yet again, I'm not really sure how effective it is, but maybe give it a bit of end lag after he uses the pizza?

Ratboy Genius:

Up B's water seems like an extremely safe way to gimp most recoveries, since it comes out very fast and it's a windbox. I think it should be either made more risky to use when it comes to gimping recoveries or the water could be reworked.

Well, this moveset was a pleasant surprise. i have to admit, i've never seen SquirrelKidd's Kirby sprite battles, but for a character like Quote with a surprisingly complex moveset, i have to say i my interested has piqued after watching it. Already, his Neutral B paints (pun completely intended) a lot of possibilities in battle, and his Side, Up and Down are simpler, but allow him to approach and strike the opponent in so many ways it's crazy. For a moveset that came out on the verge of April Fools (except it came on March 31) i am glad to say we got a really competent contender in our hands. Good job, mate.

Expecting japes? Yes. Expecting Quote? Absolutely not. I remember stumbling across those same videos as featured in this moveset, and remember how I loved it to pieces. This moveset 100% accurately represents Quote and his entire attitude imo. You steamed a good ham, boi.

First off, you got me fooled plums since i was expecting rotom dex instead of quote! The animation has hugely improved from Ratboy Genius' moveset especially the movement and standard attacks (i loved phil swifts down smash) Overall, amazing moveset plums great job! :)


Now onto the update patch:


Kirbopher: Give the Up Special more range and a new final smash
Nico: try to make the final smash more quick or mix-up because it's very predictable for opponents to avoid
Madeline: Think she's fine imo
Gay Spaghetti Chef: Jaffraud could move a tad bit faster and final smash could have a bit more range
Ratboy Genius: Have it so Ratboy genius can choose what he fires out of the potato knish by holding B down

Woah, That moveset was brilliant. Well I actually have no idea where Quote is from but this moveset was something. I'd definitely say my favorite special move out of this moveset was the Neutral B, the special guests (also thanks for the Mr. Bump cameo I was screaming for a minute :D) I like how it works in overall. The Side B is my second favorite. Is it well done and animated, I think it'll be very useful for this character. Overall this moveset was worth the wait (even though it wasn't Rotom-Dex)
As for update patches I'm not 100% sure on what to say regarding character buffs and nerfs (sorry man)
Keep it up Plums I'm really loving the work you do for your movesets.

Ah, I remember Quote. Squirrel Kidd was and still is quite the hilarious sprite animator, and this moveset embodies the nonsense he is known for very well.

Final smashes are still something that could be improved upon. Really my only personal gripes being, Kirbopher’s is a little too floaty and could be speeded up. Nico’s might benefit from being controllable (and could use s’more flair, like maybe have a small concert with Nico and friends performing in the back. Madeline’s could have more of a bounce in between foes to indicate impact. Gay Spaghet’s as someone pointed out, could benefit from being larger, with Ratboy’s being… honestly fine the way it is. I can understand these are some of the most difficult sections to animate, but with time, effort, and openness to valid suggestions, this Lawl could shine extraordinarily with major crowd pleasing FSs.


… Okay, now that the patch suggestions covered, hot damn, was this a blast of a moveset! I absolutely love the Quote VS series, Saito (thanks big time for using JoJo Quote for a victory!) & Oiling Up being some of me favorite fight animations, well, on the internet in general! To see this represented in such an incredibly fun, clean manner does me and everyone else who’s either seen these fights, or just enjoy animated sprite fights in general is oh so appreciated.

How’s the moveset itself? Very faithful to both the character, and the assholish playstyle you’re going for! The idea of guest characters (brilliant, brilliant, brilliant use of cameos!) that can be called out on the fly is an amazing idea for a special, with their function being purely battle driven calling back to the series so well. For maneuverability, his Side and Up special cover him pretty well, offering plenty of mix up options and covers for the Kirb repaint. If anything else that needed to be covered, it’s his Shadow Clones. What’re meant to slow fighters down from pursuing the real Quote, are utilized expertly here. The Final Smash is, well, what else needs to be said other than it’s a bombastic affair! Thank you so much for making this year’s April Fools all the more memorable and hilarious. This’ll def be a party on the top of me liked videos playlist for a good while!

All in all good move set. I like how the Neutral and Down B work, since from his source (which I am very familiar with), that's his entire shtick. The Side and Down B were also good. While the final smash is truthful, I was a bit let down by the name, cause I expected something similar to Rolf's final smash (let quote get healed or get beat up). Nonetheless, good. I'm also a fan of the Beware the Forest's Mushrooms stage.


Also for the update patch:
Kirbopher:
No offense, but I'll just skip him, since tampering with him means tampering with the Combination Specials, which while is a good idea, would be absolute _HELL_ to try to update.
Nico:
Make the final smash more viable by being able to move the things. I'm not sure of any other ways to improve it, but at the state it's in now, it's sorta weak.
Madeline:
She doesn't really need fixing. You did a good job with her considering her limited source.
Gay Spaggers:
Add some way to reduce spam on Gay Spaghetti's Down B, since it just seems like a lose-lose in both situations.

Again, no changes needed.
