Insights on Ancient Indian Wisdom vs Modern Wisdom - An NRI’s Perspective

As the world currently defined with the Western narrative in the framework of democracy, human rights, and constitutional provisions, some of the time tested traditional concepts of social, economic, educational, and cultural values of India have remained not only suppressed but perhaps are being eliminated from the public practice and discourse. Historically whenever such situations arose some of the most effective responses came from strong personalities, including Ram, Krishn, and Gandhi, when they themselves looked at these values from far away lands to devise effective response to such alien assault on the system of individual freedom, sustainable social structure, and natural living. NRIs of today fit in the same shoes for modern India.

About the Speaker:

Profile - Bal Ram Singh, PhD, has been a professor since 1990 at UMass Dartmouth and at the Institute of Advanced Sciences (INADS), Dartmouth, Massachusetts. He is also the Founding Director of the Center for Indic Studies at UMass Dartmouth. He is currently a Fellow of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Study, JNU, Delhi.

At the start of the British rule at least ninety %of our people were practicing DHARMA. Yajna, DAANA and THAPA were done by all though under different nomenclature. At the end of British rule at least 50%Hindus were practicing. After 70 years we have less than 10%Hindus practicing DHARMA. This can be changed for better if all hindu associations and RSS make efforts to educate and inculcate Spirituality. 2
All varnas are born in every family. Identification and direction on to Swadharma is vitiated because of selfishness , lack of spirituality.

Certainly Lord SriKrishna & SriRam are not NRI s in true sense both moved to other Vedic influenced lands & reestablished Dharma there.. we can say Raja BALI as NRI pushed to Patala America by Lord Vamana..we celebrate return of NRI Raja BALI every year..
