Install Windows 10 on a Mac External Drive 2020

In this video we show you how to install Windows 10 on a Mac External Drive in 2020. This is helpful if you want to run a full version of Windows 10 operating system on you Mac but don't want to interfere with your MacOS or if you don't have enough disk space on your Mac.. It can be useful for Gaming or running Windows programs that are not available on a Mac.

This video was literally my last hope....and it worked out perfect.
I had a problem with booting up my windows machine, and it didn't recognise bootable USB drive. Literally nothing helped until i watched this video.
So, i installed windows 10 on my external SSD, following the steps from the video, and then swapped that external drive into the windows machine....and it worked :D
Now i have perfectly working Windows10 on my SSD :D

I know this is an old video of yours but I had to do it because I upgraded SSDs and RAM on my MBP, plus I had windows 8, so I followed all your instructions and it worked perfectly, the only problem I ran into was trying to boot up while holding the cmd button, I had my external hard drive connected to my laptop through the multiple USB port adapter and it wouldn't read it, so I spent some time trying to figure out the problem, but I'm all good now, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge sir!!!

Hi ! Awesome video, Everything was well explained & worked perfectly. I do have one concern though, I’m at the part where Im looking at device manger. I noticed under the section ‘other devices’ everything is showing an orange triangle. Should I update it or just leave it be ?

I’m stuck at 12:17, when I click startup security utility it says “firmware password protection is on.” I have an option to change password or turn off firmware password but I don’t have the options to choose “no security” and “allow booting from external media”. Please help! Thanks!

I used WinToUSB Free software to install Win 10 on OWC external SSD for my PowerBook Pro.
It worked fine, but somehow didn’t work for my late 2013 Mac Pro. Does WinToUSB Free works for laptop only, not compatible for Mac Pro?

I have a small doubt, I have a 4TB Toshiba External Hard Drive. Can I partition it so I can use for windows and for MacBook files etc.?

Also, can I download some Office software i.e. Word, Excel, PP and Visual Studio in Windows which is in external drive and will it occupy any space of MacBook. I can use 512 GB for Windows in external drive for other software.

Please assist.

Im planning to install Windows in a late 2011 MBP and been looking around for better ways to do it, so I was wondering if this process works with older models like mine? I just upgraded my HD to SSD so im planning to use my old HD as the external drive.
