When you are nervous, your body goes into fight-or-flight mode. This means that your heart rate and blood pressure increase and you start to sweat. The reason you sweat is to cool down the body, but when you're not actually in danger, this response is not helpful.
By taking a few minutes to relax, you can slow down your heart rate and bring your blood pressure back to normal.
We all know the feeling. You're about to walk into a room full of people and give a speech or presentation. Your heart is racing, your palms are sweating and you feel like you might faint. It's called stage fright, and it's a very real phenomenon.
There are several ways to deal with stage fright, but one of the simplest and most effective is to use a cold water bottle. Just holding the cold bottle in your hand can help to cool the rest of your system down and calm your nerves.
