This video was cool, it shows that kids are smart and can work with adults, at least I think Helena is a kid, and it’s cool how you can make things in large, I was only supposed to watch this for a Science assignment, but this is cool.

4:45 The spiked shoe offers mechanical interlocking geometry (like shear forces on Velcro) in order to increase traction. Don't confuse that with friction. The leather sole likely has a higher coefficient of friction than any part of the spiked metal/plastic surface. There are actual good examples of friction you can use.
