We stayed in Minden a few years back and met some lovely people and learned a lot about the town and the people there. My heart breaks for them.

My hometown has about 2500 people. It is surrounded by farms. No other community is closer than 10 to 15 miles. Back in the 90’s, a tornado went straight down our main street, and damaged the city hall where we used to hold graduation ceremonies, etc., enough that it had to be torn down. Tornados have no mercy!

My heart goes out to Minden. I know people who live there.
Council Bluffs was hit by a different Tornado. The car wash by my house had the roof collapse and a guy sheltering in his car in a stall was killed by the roof falling on him.
The same Tornado that hit Minden went from the south side of town around on the east edge whole a different one came through Omaha and hit the west edge.
The one that hit Minden was huge and didn't lose intensity as it traveled atleast 60 miles.

I have lived in rural Pottawatomie County IA since 1990...there are many tiny and quaint towns that are a pleasure to participate in many with fewer than 100 or residents...but spectacular history in every town as my kids and now grandkids play sports in all of these small towns...for instance The tri center schools are Persian, neola and Minden...emotions are hi but we will all come together as only one sining praises to the Lord as we clean up rebuild and support our neighbors
