In this second instalment Jonathan is joined by Sunil Gupta, Consultant Haematologist and haemato-oncologist based at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, UK, to delve further into prophylactic anticoagulation in APML patients with COVID-19 and, anthracycline toxicity, and new drug appraisals for NICE.
Speaker Bio:
Sunil Gupta, Consultant Haematologist and Haemato-oncologist based at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, UK, has dedicated over 2 and half decades of his life to the field of haematology in the clinic and the lab alike. Specialising in haemato-oncology, Dr Gupta has clinical interests in clotting disorders, anaemias, myeloma, and thrombosis. He led haematology research and development at East Sussex Healthcare and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, initiating several clinical trials in haemato-oncology. Dr Gupta additionally served as a tutor for SAS doctors at East Sussex Healthcare, and was named Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer by Brighton and Sussex Medical School, UK.
In addition, Dr Gupta has been involved with various charitable organisations in the UK and India, including being named ‘The Local Covid Hero’ by the Member of Parliament of Orpington for his pandemic-related community efforts. In May 2022, he was elected as the Ward Councillor for Bromley Common and Holwood, UK. Dr Gupta is also a member of the British Society of Haematology, European Haematology Association, Medical Protection Society, and the American Society of Haematology.
