I wish that the "directions" on how to attach an Amerimax extension to an Amerimax Flex-a-Spout came with actual directions. Just mentioning "female" and "male" ends, just mentioning which end to cut, and showing everything from a distance, does not make it. Not for a non-mechanical homeowner like myself. If you can direct me to a video that takes you step-by-step, up-close-and-person, that would be very helpful. Because, following what I thought I heard/saw, required a lot of fine-tuning (as in using pliers, using duct tape and such) — and I'm not at all confident that it will hold up.

If I cut one of the square ends off to put over a pipe how large of a pipe (diameter) will it fit over? I have a downspout that is just above a drain but for some weird reason it has a 45 degree elbow that seems to not direct the water to that pipe. Either the people who put that in originally had the loudest brain fart ever or maybe there is a reason it is not straight down in. I would really like to not have my driveway be a treacherous sheet of ice this winter!! Here in Pennsylvania we get all of that nasty snowy and rainy weather along with wind that can make a big mess. If it doesn't get all of the water that is no big deal, I just really want to make it so there is no puddle there. Maybe my asphalt sealant will last longer without the unwanted moisture. My existing downspout is a light yellow or some sort of tan color so I may have to paint that if it will fit over the pipe. It is a 6 or 7 inch pipe or I would have tried a regular adapter fitting. I might even get the downspout replaced since one of the rivets is missing. If I decide to do that I will just get the contractor to direct the downspout into the pipe. I realize that whichever way I do it I should check on it periodically on rainy days to make sure it will not cause some unintended problem which would be the reason for it being as it was.

I wish that the "directions" on how to attach an Amerimax extension to an Amerimax Flex-a-Spout came with actual directions. This video mentions that you should determine which ends to cut. It doesn't instruct you as to how you make such a determination. Your words are probably sufficient for the mechanically minded folks out there, but not for a non-mechanical homeowner like myself. If you can direct me to a video that takes you step-by-step, up-close-and-personal, that would be very helpful. The extension is impossible to snap together without a crystal ball. The video is not helping. Too bad the company didn't think to paint a cut line. DUH.
