You're absolutely correct! the MK2 GTi wasn't fast in a straight line but it was so agile, so nimble. it was the very essence of fun driving. I only drove the mk2 gti once but it was a fun car, the way it felt is unparalleled by any other car I have driven. A true sports car isn't all about straight line speed (leave it to the americans) but more of connecting the driver to the road.

Kleinere auto's kun je vaak eerder lol in hebben inderdaad. In dit geval is het zo dat de Golf GTI een perfect ontwikkelde auto is waarvoor deze is bedoeld. De Polo GTI is hier helaas een gevoelloos aftreksel van.

i see full fuel tank.. if there is also a passenger next to the driver, maybe on an uphill.. other than that i dont see any reasons

You might try a little lesson in statistics and find out that using the mean gives you more accurate results.

mk 2 GTI does the obligatory 1-100 jump in a bit more then 9 secs this one goes around low 7s you do the math

I HATE Dsg and all automatic gearbox. It's a car or maxiscooter? As is fast (normal thing) must be the taste of being able to use the clutch to change gear.

Thanks to that a real GTi can to be the best vs a most powerful car EVEN IN STRAIGHT LINES : A Golf 6 R & its 270hp is behind my "small" Renault Sport Clio 2 RS mk1 ("Super Gti" ^^ from 2001) on a 0-130kmh in straight line (tested) & ... far behind my Clio 2 RS1 on track
No big luxe & big weight on a GTi because it's think for sport & race before all

You have to adapt your DSG settings. I did it too and my acceleration improved a lot. Check out my video to see for you self !

"GTi" is a concept, is a feeling
it's a city car in the start but build as a race car
it's a sport car think for real roads with turns & turns & even for track in its stock version & not easy straight lines possible for all noobs especially now with the semi-auto gearbox & their Launch systems
It's a car made on a good or very good ratio Weight/Power
