In this video, we’ll learn some expressions to be more polite in English when visiting a restaurant. For example, instead of saying, “Where’s the toilet?” you can ask, “Could you please tell me where the bathroom is?”

How about in your country? Are people more polite or direct? Let me know in the comments! #LearnEnglish #PoliteEnglish #EnglishTips

Here, in Italy being so polite sounds like if want to make fun of the people; we are more direct.

I'm from Spain, where people are impolite and too direct. When it comes to good manners, I admire British people. Thanks for this video:)

In Russia it depends on education, up-bringing, age and even a city/town. For example, in St Petersburg people try to be polite😊, especially older ones, but in Moscow people are direct, sometimes even rude😢

People in Colombia are generally very friendly, whichever the city, but there are regions where people are more polite and others where people are more direct.

No one in the UK would ask “where the bathroom is”. We would ask “which way is it to the toilets” or “the gents or ladies”.

It depends on the city and the level of education of both, the customers and the waiters.

I just saw from other video that using the word “toilet” is fine. The old man is from the UK.
