The Holiday - Maestro (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann

Probably many of you are on vacation right now, so I thought this classic Hans Zimmer soundtrack would be a good fit for the vacation season, not only musically, but also because of its title. I've never seen the movie, but I love the music. I wish you some more relaxing days!

Any suggestions for future arrangements? Please leave them in the comments.

I know, I know... We've had a lot of these comments now, but I still want to mention a few things.

Dear Patrik, it's so important that there are still people like you here on YouTube who produce content with dedication, a constant drive for quality and a sense for the really beautiful things. The internet is full of junk these days, which is why YouTube can call themselves lucky that you publish these high quality videos month after month. I think your competitors sometimes just don't know how to deal with certain soundtracks on the piano. Often, a kind of compositional scheme is missing and the arrangements seem rather "random". But you always know exactly what to do and how to conjure up very specific sounds on the piano. To produce this sound, you need skills musictheory-wise and especially: a lot of creativity and a good ear; Which you have, especially for the small details that many often leave out, but which are crucial for the sound. Small example: the grace notes before the octaves in "The Book Of Boba Fett '' or the beautiful middle part in your arrangement of "Raiders March" with brilliant quaver triplet-arpeggios! The way you arranged "Dune" is absolutely incredible as well and I can't believe how close a piano version can sound to an totally instrumental-based score (I mean the way you chosen to play that octaves when the main melodie enters is so clever and every single chord in the middle part is so balanced!) And, I really have to emphasize that, your Gladiator-arrangement is brilliant, especially the way you worked out the 4th page with it's beautiful increase to the climax and the following fifth side with an incredible way of capturing this quiet, peaceful, almost meditative mood of the piece (I liked that you marked this page with "free", since this part of the piece can be interpreted with a lot of own musical character). 🎶 I Iove your visuals too, for example the world map in your "Protectors Of The Earth''-video 🌍 (by the way, I was very happy that you mentioned the climate change aspect in the video description!).

My teacher once said: "Scheinbar ist er ziemlich gut darin, Filmmusik-Arrangements zu beinahe eigenständigen Klavierkompositionen zu entwickeln, die das Original wunderbar treffen und sicherlich auch eine ganze Menge seiner Persönlichkeit beinhalten." ("Apparently he's extremely good at developing film music arrangements into almost independent piano compositions, that capture the original beautifully and certainly contain a lot of his personality."). I think this quote sums up your work quite well.

There are so many people on YouTube doing something similar to you, but after all, you were the one who revolutionized film music on the piano and nobody can and will ever take that away from you.

I still have two fundamental questions:

When did your love for filmmusic begin?

Was there a specific point in time when you decided to make YouTube your full-time job?

Have a great Day! 😃

Kind regards,

Lasse

A year ago I found this piece and started practicing. At the time I was in yr 9 and doing a Christmas concert. I was already pretty good but when I tell you the reaction to me playing this was just phenomenal. Even my music teacher who hadn’t had enough time to hear mine was shocked. He was CRYING. Thank you🥰

Absolutely Beautiful! I found your channel about 2-3 years ago and fell in love with your music! The arpeggios and chords make the songs seem so powerful. It’s challenging, but absolutely beautiful, and I only wish I could play the songs as well as you do. I’ve played about 5 of your compositions so far, and each one has challenged me and helped me become a better pianist. Your ability to accent certain notes always impresses me, as I’ve always struggled with that, there’s so many notes but the melody is never drowned out. But your music shows me what I need to work on to improve! So thank you for posting such high quality videos and music every month! I have one song request: the E.T. Flying theme. It’s one of my favorite soundtracks and I think it would sound amazing! Keep up the great work!

3:16 Same chord progression like in "Interstellar", that's interesting 😅. Plus: 3:38 I really love how Zimmer ended on that Fmaj7 chord, that gives the piece a beautiful open end!

Hey Patrik,
Your videos are always something extraordinary and manage to take me away from reality for a couple of minutes whenever I listen to them.
You've inspired me to play the piano again after I stopped due to my daily life taking up too much time. It's a wonderful thing to do each day and I wanted to thank you for inspiring me in such a way.
Keep up this phenomenal work and I wish you many more creative years to come.

Oh wow! Herrlich! 🌄🏞️🌻🌺🌻🎹🎶🎵

Hey Patrik, thank u for this wonderful video! What do you think about posting some short videos over the month, maybe showing practicing sections of your previous videos, without the visualizer, like a making off. I think that it would be kind of interesting because personally I have interest about seeing you playing in a different perspective, like an usual piano recording.

My favorite song from the movie and you played it very well emotionally. 😊 No need for the strings because you did it all with piano! 😁
