I was taught to end with “For these sins and the sins I’ve forgotten, I ask God’s forgiveness.”

I always do examination of conscious and write a list so I stopped explaining. It was mentioned at one of the masses, so it caught on in line or the priest mentioning it. Understand who you are speaking to and pray to the Holy Spirit before going in. God bless you 🙏🏻 ❤

Except that man can’t forgive sins. Only God can.

No, where in the Bible do you, confess your sins to a human being only to the Lord God Almighty, and that is personal between you and God. We can tell someone so that would be made known, but we don’t confess. Only God can forgive us of our sins we don’t need a mediator.

Remember a Priest cannot forgive you your sins against God. Jesus taught us to go directly to God.
