Did he say 2000 buildings are overdue for recertification?

How is it humanly possible to do " as many as thousands of inspections in a day." I had to replay this back three times to make sure I heard him right.

Code enforcement was wasting their time trying to fine people for expired tags and tall grass and neglecting real life safety issues. The Stephen Clark Center and the Flagler court house have had some deterrioration as well.

"All isues will be addressed" should be, "All issues will be identified".

It's ashame it had to resort to this for any one to "consider " checking for these buildings.

I feel as they just putting on a show cause the heat is on the big guys.

I just figured out the mayor's demeanor during news conference. She has a hesitancy about what she says because her head could be on the chopping block for not paying attention to what's going on with her buildings. Now she is getting all the buildings inspected.Too ineffective leadership.

Why wasn't the city doing their job before? There shouldn't have been any room to step up!

Wow. It took a major collapse and 100+ deaths to light a fire under these people. Hope future video is coming of repairs actually being dpne!

Isostacy. Its what is required for tall buildings built in the rest of the US. Apparently Florida is just plain ignorant about engineering.

Wow and it's technically built in a relatively recent time period for a big building like that.

I'll bet the county will collect a lot of revenue and not a single thing will be done to improve safety, especially for the buildings owned by the county.

Well, getting all the inspections done within the next month is all well and good. Getting all the necessary repair and replacement work done, thats something else entirely!
People are still going to have to live in potentially unsafe buildings until all fixes are complete, and who knows how long that will take?
Clearly the whole system is in urgent need of overhaul. Certification needs to be much more frequent and stringent!

Miami builds tall buildings close to the sea which isn’t bright. Sea salt water damages foundations rebar. Miami needs to stop acting like they are NYC, Chicago, Toronto.
