It is supposed to be "loose" like that, because the actual turntable part sits on the spring mounts underneath. Or at least some sort of supports, so that the stylus doesn't pick up vibrations from the built-in speakers.

That being said, this model unfortunately seems to have a serious design flaw on the tonearm ... There is no offset on the headshell or the tonearm itself. I won't make this too complicated, but if you Google other record players and turntables, you will notice that they all have angled head, or curved tonearm, and that is to allow natural, accurate tracking of the grooves. Even the "notorious" Crosley Cruiser. This one on the other hand has a straight arm with straight head, resulting with awkward tracking angle to the point where I'm honestly wondering how is it even playing without skipping or causing severe distortion.

It's fine for the price. It's what it all used to sound like back in the day. Some people can't afford or don't want thousands of dollars of stereo equipment. I just wanted to play some vinyl and take me back to the 60-70's. It serves that purpose for me so far.

The arm cartridge end is straight, looks wrong, will mean the stylus angle will be wrong . I would go to good will and try find record player from 70s or earlier. Glad you've got in to vinyl :) it's lovely the whole experience of cover and media

It’s fun as a novelty item or to listen to a record here or there, but it makes even masterpieces like Dark Side of the Moon sound like cats fighting in an alley filled with tin cans.

Don’t waste your money! Like someone else said pay a little more and get an Audio Technica AT- LP 60x or better. Records either skip or don’t sound right on this. Distorted or the “s” sounds like the singers have a lisp. Just not right.

Is anyone else having this problem?

My record player is plugged in but when I turn the knob the blue light doesn't come on and the light on the box of the cord seems to turn off. Like it's doing the opposite of what it used to do before.

I don't know who the eff made the arm...! There's no headshell offset which it gives a tremendous amount of tracking error! A straight arm... Oh My Gawd!

And ideas on why it won’t turn in after 9 mos of working just fine? I checked the belt, it’s not that it just won’t power on.
