Official Full Length Documentary about Tashi, a 17 year old Tibetan monk searching for his path in life.

A boy's journey through Tibet in search of truth. TASHI DELEK! is a coming of age story of Tashi. On a wider scale, it is a story about a small nation struggling to keep its identity since opening of borders just a few dozen years ago. It is a universal story about the conflict between spiritualism and materialism.

Tashi is a 17 year old teenager who loves to play football and basketball, have fun with his friends and listen to pop music. He is also a monk studying at Pema Tsal Sakya Buddhist Monastery, sent here by his parents at the age of 6. Soon, Tashi faces the most important decision in his life. We follow Tashi on his long journey home through the Himalayas to visit his father, witnessing the present day life and customs of one of the best preserved traditional Tibetan communities in the world.

What a beautiful documentary. Thank you for so beautifully and respectfully portraying a way of life so few westerns understand. I have had the privilege of spending time at Pema Ts'al and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to see how they live and learn what it truly means to become a monk. This is one film I will definitely share.

This is a brilliant movie/documentary. Thanks so much for your hard work in bringing this fantastic story to life. You have managed to convey so many different facets and challenges in this culture through just one person's story. The crying grandma in Lo broke my heart. Life is so hard for these folks. I think we underestimate the doubt and challenge encountered by young monks in Tibetan culture. The pull of western civilization and pop culture is huge. In some ways this whole way of life is in for a reboot. Is it better to move away from monastic schools and instead teach the philosophy in secular settings? Those who are moved by the philosophy can go deeper. This movie reminds me of the other great movie in this space, The Cup. Wonderful production, thank you for creating and sharing this jewel with the world!

beautiful .... the journey of life especially for the spiritual ones are full of obstacles and yet its temporary. But god is permanent. So never leave god and the path of god in any circumstances. Life is a challenge face it ... win it 😭😭😭😭. Never forget that every experience is a lesson and every loss is a gain. I pray daily for the betterment of Tibet here from Sikkim. I know a good ruler will come soon in China who will return Tibet to Tibetans mark my words.... i will pray and till date my prayers have never gone in vain. I only request the Tibetans to purely follow non violence and strive to be pure vegetarians if you all can . Avoid beef . Tears flows from my eyes when i see the challenges and the grief you all experience. But trust me good days will come soon. Dont u have faith in your god... ??if so have patience ...ull all be happy from now on. Om bazra guru pema siddhi hum🙏🙏

Aitäh! Ilus teekond, mõtlemapanev, haarav. Üks filmidest, kus õnnelik lõpp, kui ta tuleb kunagi, jääb tulevikku.

Subtitles, hmm... well perhaps it is also worth mentioning that there are 4 languages spoken in the film: Tibetian, Nepalese, Upper-Mustangi tibetan dialect ( Loke) and Lower-Mustangi tibetan dialect. Most people over there do not speak virtually any English and the translations took almost a year to complete. There are only about 15 000 people in total who speak Mustangi dialects and not many of then speak any English at all, not to mention being able to translate. Only about 3000 people of these live in Upper Mustang ( Lo Manthang area ). If "a version in English" means a dubbed version then no we have intentionally not created one. It would overshadow the background sounds and original music that is an essential part of the film.

Would be great to have a version in English. Reading subtitles for an hour is too distracting.
