When Mr Holland looked at the pictures of his family he realized what he had was precious. He stayed with what was real and let the fantasy go.

I remember buying this soundtrack CD specifically for this track and it contained someone else singing Someone to Watch Over Me! I was so upset! I wrote a letter to the CD company and they sent me the single of Jean Louisa singing it. What the heck?!?!

This is one of my favourite movie scenes; it has stuck with me for many years. The subtle expressions from Glenn, Iris, and Rowena hint at unrequited love, future possibilities, and heartbreak. It is exquisitely filmed and sung, with Rowena's closing lighting and facial expression leaving me with a knot in my chest. Beautiful.

Give this girl, I mean ANGEL, some love - Never heard this done with such passion. GERSHWIN is very proud.

What a triangle. An amazing scene with perfect performances from all three. I mean, really, Glenne Headly was on screen for four brief shots, and nailed it.

Any one who thinks there is a better version surely has not heard Jean Louisa Kelly perform this song.
Just breathtakingly beautiful.

Probably my favorite scene in a movie. Jean does this song better than the original. Hers has all the tenderness of young, innocent love.

Watched this so many times. Her facial expressions to him are incredible. Her breathing everything is so expressive. Such a great performance

Stunning vocal, she just nails it. Glenne Headly was a great actress. They did a great job making her look old and plain here when she is actually very pretty.

Dad this was our Favorite Movie. When it was the last 2 hours before God Called You home; I played this song for you. I hope you heard it. They said you still did not open your eyes. RIP DADDY 🙏

Jean Louisa is so beautiful and seductive... I just realized that she is the girl all grown up now from Uncle Buck. What a role reversal from a brat to a beauty queen... wonderful movie and a real tear jerker...

First ran across this film about 15 years ago on television and, as I didn't think much of the movies coming out at that time, I had low expectations (I also didn't realize it had been made in 1995). I was surprised by its quality, to say the least. However, when the narrative introduces the Rowena character, the film climbs to a much higher level, leaving me stunned by the end of the big Gershwin performance, so gracefully followed by the bus stop good-bye scene. There's a lot going on when Rowena enters the picture (Holland's "chance" to escape from what feels like drudgery, it comes when he's hit middle-age, the tension between him, Rowena and his wife, etc.), and the impact of it all is contributed by Jean Louisa Kelly's talent in no small measure! She's outstanding.

This scene and Jean Louisa Kelly's performance was absolutely riveting. I've heard greats sing this song - but her rendition still stands above them all. Absolutely glorious.

My favorite vocal version. Have to admit that the movie's story had something to do with it. Jean Louisa's voice was perfect. I've always loved this song.
