This is my comfort video. I love art (watching and making) but also have depression which always kills my creativity or makes me so nervous about making imperfections in my art, but then I come back to this video and remember that art is never truly perfect, and that it’s okay to make art “your own way”. This is really inspiring to me.

The best thing I did for myself as an artist was “make it ugly on purpose”. I stoped letting myself make art because it wasn’t perfect for so long. It wasn’t fun anymore. Perfectionism really does kill all creativity. That’s why I love art like this. Just do whatever because you feel like it. If you’re making art you’re doing something right.

Messy art is so freeing. I’m a freelance illustrator and spend a lot of time drawing realism/semi realism, and nothing beats the emotional catharsis of drawing because it FEELS GOOD. Not to any standard or to depict anything in specific, but because the act of making art is so refreshing and enjoyable.
