You're going to pass everything on the road Jack with that apart from a petrol station, of course 😂. I take my hat off to you Jack you've made something very special with the Pantera and with number 27!🫡

Jack at 1:45 in, you can see a brake pipe joint you have done. Far left, It is illegal to use a compression joint on the braking system for MOT in the uk. I know they are listed on ebay etc as brake pipe joiners. But cannot be used for road use. They sell female to female couplers for using with the brake flaring tool. That is what you need.

Mr. 27, I know I've mentioned this in another one of your Pantera vids, but I had a '73.Mine was an unrestored original which was heavily tracked (read: abused), and which I reluctantly received as part of a debt settlment (along with a trampoline, which is a different story involving near-death experiences). In the brief time I owned it it cost me tens of thousands of dollars to keep it on the road. And even when it was being its best mechanical self it was still a technicolor-spaghetti nightmare of melting wires, poor panel fitment, water leaks, foul odours, creaks, rattles, terrible ergonomics and - at least twice - it attempted to murder me when I let my guard down.

That was decades ago and since then not a single day has gone by where I don't miss it.

Have fun with yours! I'll be watching from a safe distance.

Memories of refitting the engine to the gearbox in my old RWD skoda. Quite a job, like yours, to get the two to connect. Got everything bolted together, plumbed and wired up. Stood back to admire my work. Saw the clutch release bearing sat to one side....

Love this project Jack 👍🏻

I scanned through the comments, but didn’t see anyone saying this already. That drain plug is very likely 3/8” NPT. They’re 18 tpi, and 0.675” diameter. Sounds like what you have.

I love this video, the tenacity, the persistence, the progress!! It’s clearly a rewarding buildand the end result is going to be magnificent! Can’t wait for the next videos!

good to see you back in the garage working on a car - always was a core part of the channel appeal. (but keep the quirky reviews going too please)

You're fortunate to have a Pantera. Great to see it with the right Campagnolo wheels.
Made a huge difference!

My 8th grade math teacher had a Pantera. I would get to school early every morning just to see him pull in and rev the engine a little. By far the coolest teacher and car at school! Great memories.

A great channel, most channels give you the impression car restoration/rebuilds are easy. Jack manages to show just how hard it is.

Kudos Sir. You're working through a series of problems and resolving them with logic and effort one by one. No-one could ask more.

For bending tight (that was the word you were looking for!) bends in brake pipes, you can use a little pipe bender tool that applies a gentle pressure around the pipe preventing it from kinking. They are a cheap handheld tool, so handy to have in the toolbox.

As for mounting the engine and gearbox together, I feel your pain! When I had to reinstall the engine in my Impreza I really struggled to get it lined up and engaged on the shaft. I ended up over-forcing it and knackering the clutch, so had to do it all again. The problem was getting the splines on the clutch plate and input shaft lined up, particularly as they are hidden when you're close to the two joining up. I think I had to nudge the crank around a bit until it slid into place.

The Pantera is coming out a treat, Jack!!! Your mods make sense and the detail to which you are building this classic back is really good to see!! 400+hp and 400+ftlbs of torque, just one of the reasons that the Cleveland 351 was outlawed for racing, it dominated it's class (oh and racing heads are still available if you want to break 600hp.). Well done with that ZF transmission, I've heard they can be a pain. Everything seems to coming along well, I hope to see a video of you putting it through it's paces in the next few months!!! Thanks again for the update!!! Cheers Jack!! - Dave

You're inspiring me to return to the UK and start working on my right-hand drive Pantera. The other day, I pulled my engine and gearbox out after storing them at my father-in-law's garage for over twenty years. A forced measure, but it got the juices going, and I am now intent on getting the restoration started. Like you, I had forgotten how heavy the engine and gearbox are when assembled together.

Nice job Giac,
you have incorporated some clever lateral thinking in your work and methods.
One thing to note, the "pilot bearing" as you called it, or crankshaft spigot bearing, will not be nor should ever be phosphor bronze.
Sintered bronze is normally used, however the bearing you tapped in looked like iron, in which case it should be sintered iron.
Either can be used in the application.
Use the wrong material and you will enter a world of pain.
For the wire sheathing PVC conduit ( not the split corrugated rubbish) beats heat shrink in looks and performance, and was originally fitted.
Keep up the good work.

Great work Jack . . . it's fantastic to see the progress on the Pantera, as it inches its way towards the finishing line.

Truly inspiring, Jack. Think we can agree now: this is the new 308! As industrial designer in the sporting goods industry, former rock climber, I was so happy you change the old belt webbing. Old Nylon web= brittle death trap. Keep rollin`
