I can tell you for certain that animals dream. I've seen a dog I was taking care of for someone else just... twitch run while asleep. We had a good chuckle til she woke up, to which she came over to us, and I just pet her cause she was so fucking cute.

The other night, I dreamt I was in a popularity battle with a unicorn-human girl, then I woke up and quickly scribbled what happened in my dream journal, since I heard that keeping a dream journal will help me lucid dream. Then I went back to bed and dreamt that a giant, cartoonish cat, our solar system, and surrounding stars was being eaten by a giant white blob thing with multiple mouths (dream reference to a internet comic I read the day before), woke up and thought "wow that was weird" and wrote what happened below my previous scribbles, then I started drifting off, then I really woke up and realized that I don't have a dream journal.

My dog whimpers and even lightly barks in her sleep, as well as her body will twitch a little. I'd say that's dreaming. Besides, I don't know why animals wouldn't dream. We are animals, and we're also very similar to other animals in a lot of ways.
