If the pilots declared an emergency, then they should have cleared the runway after landing and then have the firetrucks check for any obvious signs of trouble before proceeding to the gate. Someone dropped the ball on this one.😮

IF, and I say IF…this proves to be pooled fuel, leaking from the engine, igniting after the aircraft came to a stop, another good reason for crews to request fire service to meet them immediately after landing, and follow them to the gate, after engine problem..

If I were ever on a flight that needed to be evacuated in an emergency like this where seconds might have mattered -- I'd sure hate to be seen with my carry-on outside the plane immediately after. Nothing like showing the world that you think your "stuff" is more important than the lives of your fellow passengers behind you.
