I do not understand why they speak of the risk of crossing tipping points when documented permafrost sinkholes show that certain tipping points have been passed

It’s becoming clearer to me that a switch to a different economic model, doughnut economics, as one example would be beneficial. Without a move away from growth economics I fail to see us making much impact in the fight against climate change

Absolutely the top ten key messages here. I agree keep hoping for the best, but also plan for the worse, or in this case the most likely outcome, that is abrupt climate change. Let dual track mitigation as the cascading abrupt climate change is now surely locked in due to the fact that the Artic is warming at 2 to 4 times the Worlds Average. We can brace for impact and also transform as we do, to make a difference to who and what survives when the World resets and we have a New Equilibrium, Our current Equilibrium is teetering on the brink and it is hard to see realistically how it will not collapse, maybe even abruptly.

Interesting summary, but why such attention to 1.5C. We've lost 1.5C and pretending that it is still obtainable prevents the action we need to keep warming below 2.7C. We need to be honest and stop focusing on best case scenarios.
