Writing Atari ST Disks Using a PC

Billy from the Game Chasers contacted me for help getting some Atari ST games on floppy, it's not something that is easy to do unless you have some older PC hardware, and the right software.
So I thought I would do a quick video on how you setup things correctly to be able to write Atari ST disks using a PC.

Download OmniFlop (with the all important drivers) here:

Download FloImg program here:

See general updates on both my web site:
and my Facebook page:

I also do live game plays, usually high score practices on Twitch here:

Very useful video!
I never had to use Omniflop for the drivers. I just installed FloIMG on my legacy Win2K PC and it works fine.
BTW... the Amiga doesn't use special drives. It's all about the controller.
There is/was a PCI card called 'Catweasl' which allowed you to write Amiga disks on a Windows PC with a regular PC drive attached to the Catweasl controller.

Omniflop is an amazing tool - I use it a fair bit on an old machine to write disks for my C64's 1581 drive, which has been very handy for some of the larger releases out there.

Totally surprised to see the drivers would be very handy with other tools.

Hi mate, not sure if it is possible but is there a way to copy original ST games from disk to PC to play on emulation. Just asking as all the ones online are cracked games and no one seems to have the originals...? Or is it all to do with copy protection on the disks?

I will have to give this a try with my St once I get my drive fixed I think it may need cleaning has is picky on what it plays

Getting original disks to run really is an art in itself these days. Good thinking using the drivers from another program...windows isn't so bad is it?
I've messed around with c64 disks in the past with varying success. But with the ultimate in hand, it's all become very easy.

An old Win XP laptop with a working floppy drive is very useful, and should be easy to get hold off. I use one with FloImg, and HD disks - I tape over the HD hole and burn .ST disks onto those, generally works everytime. The same laptop plays .TAP files to the Speccy and the C64 - so it's an especially useful, useless old laptop :D

Is it possible to write 880K images with a PC? I've written up to 830K images successfully with a PIII Sony Laptop, but when ever I attempt an 880 I get constant RNF errors. If not, how do I get these 880K images on a disk?

I use a scsi zip drive to move files. Linux picks then up fine, windows needs 33 meg partitions.

I'm using a Windows 2000 Desktop and Floimg doesn't seem to work all the time. I got Tetris to work with the Floppy's but every other game I try to use isn't working so far. It keeps saying with other games that it's unable to detect them. If I switched to Omniflop would it work better?
