Learn how to leverage Additive Manufacturing to produce end-use parts with Desktop Metal.

The age of AM 2.0

Additive 2.0 is all about the production of end-use parts. To date, the printing of end-use parts in high volumes has been limited by high part costs and throughput constraints.

To justify the printing of end-use parts, the printed part must first meet or exceed the finish, accuracy, repeatability, and properties of the traditionally manufactured alternative. With legacy technologies, this has been possible thanks to developments in polymer materials and metal printing technologies.

Secondly, parts must be able to be produced economically at the desired scale. To date, however, this has rarely been possible, largely because per part costs stay flat as the number of required parts increases, and quickly become unjustifiable as compared to traditional manufacturing methods where per part cost decreases with volume thanks to the amortization of tooling.

Speaking at the event

Ethan Rejto - Technical Marketing Manager | Desktop Metal

Ethan is a Technical Marketing Manager at Desktop Metal. With a background in mechanical engineering, Ethan worked at Onshape (now PTC) and MIT Lincoln Labs before joining Desktop Metal. At Desktop Metal, Ethan is responsible for working with customers to help turn their successes with metal 3D printing into case studies, presentations, and more.

Michael Petch - Editor-in-chief | 3D Printing Industry

Michael is the 3D Printing Industry Editor-in-chief. With a decade of reporting and researching AM, Michael is a regular key-note speaker and moderator at technology conferences. As a former investment analyst focused on emerging technology, Michael is interested in both the science and economic implications of additive manufacturing.
