When I listen to this song, I think about my family dog, and I literally cry everytime. This song to me is about losing a family pet...It was weird seeing you smile during this song...did you even listen to it?

All his Gotye stuff is from sampled bits from old vinyl (mostly found in op shops), random instruments or found sounds in his environment. There's a couple of great 'making of' type vids for the album this song is from 'Making Mirrors'

Dei of course was right. Gotye has a huge collection of vinyl and does great samples. He also loves sampling old music instruments, natural sounds, even fences.

I always thought a less ambiguous video would have had a greater impact. That the song is about a beloved pet passing is hard to determine.
