HISTORATHON 2023 | A Nonfiction History Reading Event

HISTORATHON 2023

Historathon is a year-long celebration of reading historical nonfiction. The goal is to read, discuss, and spotlight works of history, and to encourage reluctant readers to give history a try. The calendar year will be divided into three-month blocks, with each block focusing on a particular period of time:

Jan-March = Prehistory-500 CE
April-June = 500-1500
July-Sept = 1500-1820
Oct-Dec = 1820-Present

To participate, simply read a work of history that falls into the time period for each quarterly segment of the year. Read more if you’d like! Tailor the choices to your interests or try something completely new.

Hi, new to your channel and this readathon. I'm very much a fiction reader - but love history documentaries so I'm excited to do this. I was planning on reading alot of historical fiction and retellings this year - so I'll be adding some historic non fiction to be TBR. I'm planning on one nonfiction and one fictional book for each era and read them.

In addition to Egyptian and Greco/Roman works, I'll be diving into the Olmec civilization for quarter one, then the Mayans for quarter one/two. I'm not familiar with the Mesoamerican civilizations and this is a great chance for me to learn about them. This was a great idea Vin, it's going to be fun :)
