Another point: it might have taken a lot longer to get story arcs into TV series, because the use of story arcs outside soap operas was largely pioneered by Babylon 5, which was inspired by Star Trek AND which in turn inspired Star Trek to make DS9, where Trek itself first dived into using extended plot arcs.

I used to think Cell Phones were inspired by Star Trek. I found out in a networking class that we had that tech in the 50's, just not the infrastructure (satellites, towers, etc.) to make it an everyday item.

I think 2d animation would still rather prevalent today rather being almost completely wiped out by 3d animation.

This is left up for the parallel worlds but if this did happen the world we know would be dramatically altered in ways that we would not recognize it cause and effect the world was so keep going shows with still be there movies will be made maybe some variation of it would be made or not I don't know but our world would be dramatically different without Star Trek but we also got to give credit to the Twilight Zone if you ever seen the series connections do you know I'm talking about but if you haven't check it out on YouTube it's a little dry but it shows you how things come about through other things for example the carburetor can about through the invention of a pump spray of a perfume bottle the atomized mist we have no idea how different our world would be today without Star Trek but I do agree Star Wars probably wouldn't be there or if it was it wouldn't be the Star Wars we know live long and prosper May the force be with you in the Mortal words of Rod Serling you are entering the Twilight Zone
