This song was released when I was pregnant with my son. Even then, I more associated it with the closing of chapters. It's always been his song. Following all the chapters of his life. He managed a radio station for a while, DJ'd, etc. Frequently this was his sign off.
He just got married.

I can still remember 5 years ago when I was still in college. Before we go to class, we're always drunk. But before we leave the bar, we always play this beautiful song in the karaoke. Now we're professionals and some of us have a family, we still haven't change a bit in our taste of music. Getting old is inevitable, but because of this song, it brings us to those good old days. Dan Wilson, thank you so much for this beautiful rendition of what is in my opinion one of the greatest pieces of American music. When I was a little girl I remember riding in the car with my Dad while we both sang along as this song played on the radio. When I was in college, I learned of the song’s deeper meaning and it made those moments all the more special. This past June, my Father and I danced to it at my wedding. My Dad heard the opening and we cried happy tears the entire way through the song. Thank you for making an acoustic version. It is beautiful and I’m sure it has touched more lives than you know! ❤

This used to be on my favorite song playlist during time out after off duty because I always choose to be at closing time shift in my work at Carrefour Abu Dhabi. And I will always play it loud on my cellphone w/ earphones. It brings back all the good memories during my time of off duty at work heading to our flat while riding in our company shuttle bus service .😹😹😹 while thinking my family back in the Philippines.😣😢
