California redwoods suffering from effects of climate change-fueled weather whiplash

Would like to know what percentage of the current range of redwood forests are expected to “contract.” Did the professor mention if this expansion and contraction happened in the past? How common has it been in the past 100 years and what were those markers that limited the range of growth for the redwoods?

The redwoods are doing just fine, thank you very much. You ought to see how they have sprouted new growth and are so, so green again where the CZU fire ripped through the coastal mountains. Yes, some fell during these past winter storms but there are thousands upon thousands still standing. Think about this fact: every tree standing today will someday die and fall to the ground. That's the circle of life.

Sequoias have been contracting for 1000's of years, they used to be all the way East in Colorado!

The climate has changed many times over the 4.5 billion years the earth has been around; it has been much colder and much warmer. Earth has been coming out of an ice age for the past 11k years....

1st off fCOAST REDWOOD is not Drought Tolerant, they need massive amounts of water to grow large, thats why they grow best in Northern California and southern Oregon close to the coast where they get lots of Fog even during the dry Summer months

I'm not sure what qualifies this person to be an expert on Coastal Redwoods. I have them in my yard. All are healthy. AND most were affected by outside influences BUT not Climate Change.

As an ENTJ, I am very sensitive to how trees feel. And let me tell you something. These trees are desperately crying out for help. They have told me that we must stop hurting the planet with our big screen TVs and SUVs. And that you must also vote for Biden in 2024 because he REALLY cares about trees and stuff.

Those trees were here long before humans, and they will be there long after humans are wiped out by our own silly ideas.
