Glad you’re back, Ray. 6 days without a Rainman Ray video is like reusing a cotter pin - it hurts the soul.

Dave and Justin are like "Great, Ray's back messing up our well-running shop. Destroying oil pans on his first day back." 🤣🤣

Your crew is a reflection of its leadership, and business model. Successful !

The fact you are able to miss a week of work and the shop kept running anyway means you have successfully started a business. I was here when this was a run down dimly lit two lift shop with just you and wife unit, and to see your shop grow to this point has been a wild ride and I thank you for taking me along.

Here’s to your continued success!

My boss has one of these jeeps. It needed the exact same maintenance done and asked if I could do it so he could save money and pay me for it instead. I had no idea how much of a pain this oil pan gasket is. Thanks for this video. It's nice to see someone else struggle the design is absolutely ridiculous.

When Ray has the flu, we all lose a spring in our step... the enthusiasm in all your videos is contagious! You were missed by the masses...

Ray good to see you back. Going through Rainman withdrawal is not a good thing. That fact that everything at the shop was taken care of shows the leadership of the boss.

You see, what happened was, they designed the oil pan with a high clearance so the drain plug wouldn't drag the ground. They realized it would leave oil behind so they designed the gasket to leak prematurely. That way you get the full change at some point. And seeing as gaskets alone don't make much money they then designed it to be impossible to get the pan off without destroying it. I'm sure they fully expected the pickup tube to be ruined in the process because of that redundant (useless) structural bit behind the pan but you're a much better mechanic than that.

Good to see you back and feeling better!

The first day back after an illness would have to be the worst day. For a moment there I thought Ray was losing touch with reality as he struggled with what should be an easy task of oil pan removal but turned into a real struggle. Then Wife Unit dropped his coffee! That would be enough to push me over the edge, not Our Ray though he fought back even knowing his coffee was all over the floor. Well done Ray in beating this Jeep down.

Man, finally a sign of life from you. I was really worried because there was nothing to read on your wife's channel either!

I remember when you left your last job and started this shop. Now you have a thriving business that you can be away from without it collapsing.

You said something closer to the end of the video about being more difficult than it had to be. And something else about garbage design. Both of those are because Chrysler, or Stellantis, or Fiat, or Daimler, or whoever they are this week. I had a struggle bus kind of day today, and after that oil pan, I wasn't alone. Great video as always Ray.👍👍

The windage tray has a face! 29:30 hahaha Good to see you back buddy, having the flu is never fun. Poor design of the oil pan, that was one engineer that just give a damn about how hard removal would be and location of the drain bolt. Great video!!

Wow you've come a long way Ray. If the boss can take off for a week and the work is coming in and going out then that is proof of a solid crew and a well run shop.

You've come a long way since the days of squabbling with the dealerships and garages. Now you can be out of action for a while and your shop still runs. Congrats!
