This short hike (roughly 1.2 miles roundtrip) visits some interesting sites from early settlers of Poway, California.

We start our hike at the intersection of Garden Road and Sycamore Valley Road.
(Coordinates: 32.957819, -117.004012)

The first few minutes of the hike are uphill arriving at the Smith Cemetery just 500' from where you begin on Garden Road! The fenced perimeter is overgrown and a barely visible single headstone has the names of 5 family members that lived on the property and built the "Longview" house.

The hike follows an active horse trail along the edge of private property, please be respectful and stay to the trail.

Along the way we explore briefly at what I believe may have been horse stables, and then arrive at the ruins of the Winfrey/Smith house. This homestead was built in the 1880’s and is also known as the Longview house, built by a family that came here from Kentucky.

Please take only photos and leave only footprints.
