Webcam Battle - MacBook Pro M1 Max versus Logitech C922

The new Apple MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro/Max chips have a vastly improved webcam capable of 1080p recording, but does that mean you can ditch your Logitech C922 or Brio webcams?

Compared side by side, the integrated webcam is doing some smoothing and the colors are certainly warmer, but the Logitech still wins in the detail department.

Video was recorded with the Quicktime recorder on maximum settings, light from a lite panel at 65 and 50 percent power along with 5200K color temperature. Audio capture by the built-in laptop microphones which are actually quite decent.

Just the fact that you said you are using that WebCam with that processor answered my one and only question… Do the two work together? I’ve been seeing comments that the camera does not work with M1 chips. Obviously in this video, it does. Thank you.

Hello, I have been comparing web cameras recently and came upon your video which turned out to be very helpful. I have one question though: are you using Mac book from 2020 or 2021 in this video? I read that 2020 Macs have 720 p cameras, while 2021 have 1080 p.

Not sure which Logitech I have but it is not recognized by my 16" M1 Max (Monterey 12.1). I've tried the facetime method recommended by Apple and that doesn't work. Any help appreciate.

I’m having a horrible time with my built in cam. The first time I used it it was fine and the quality matched yours but now it’s very low quality. And I’m not sure how to fix it. Can I get your help?

Hi! Do C922 and Brio work on M1 without special tricks? Is Logitech finally M1 ready? I'm looking to get a webcam for my Macbook Air M1 and have heard terrible things about Logitech models up to 920 failing on M1... Thanks!
