I think my soul would have left my body. They LAUGHED?? I'm glad the kitty was okay.

I would've run down the stairs saying 'sorry baby'. Not laughing.

The simplest solution would have been to use a board between the stairs and the window. Then added that as a permanent fixture there.

😮🫣That poor baby probably jumped from the railing to window(?) If they left it alone, it could have jumped back—maybe? Catification definitely needed.

That cat is never going to trust those people after that. I've had to get my cat out of a couple of sticky situations, but I've always made sure we are all safe when doing so.

I can NOT imagine laughing at that. That’s horrifying.

A board to walk would have been a better solution. The can can get internal injuries from a fall even if it lands on it's feet.

All they had to do was put down something that the cat could walk across to them. It's not that big a gap. I'm sure if they searched their home they would have something that would have worked.

They would have been better off allowing the cat time to figure out that it could jump back to the rail the way it likely got there.

So true. I have a 19 year old cat, and he still gets up there.❤

This could have been handled differently!! I was sad hearing the distress in kitty's meows and then mortified when kitty fell! 😮😢🫣😬😵

Poor kitty. Thank goodness it was looking like a four paw landing. 😽
Laughing was not appropriate for such a potential dangerous situation.❤❤❤🐈

What was even the point of that 🤦🏼‍♀️ worst case scenario of the cat trying to get down by itself would be exactly what they caused. It probably would’ve jumped down the same way it went up when it was ready. They should catify for sure, but in that moment just using a bit of logic would’ve been the best course of action lmao

What a great opportunity to educate on this. Absolutely perfect motivation for a lot of of us to fix a couple of things.

I learnt it the hard way. It's so important to catify your home. When i first adopted a cat, I was 13 years old and honestly the adults in my family didn't know much about cats or how ro raise them. One day i came bavk from school to find my cat missing. Searched the entire house and she was nowhere to be found. Suddenly i heard a really loud meaow. We have a peetty big house with a lot of space around and an open roof. She had somehow wandered over to the rooftop snd lodged herself in this very thin ledge a foot or so off the roof. She mightve jumped and gor there but now she was stuck. It was scary as hell getting down there and rescuing hee and the poor girl held onto me so hard it drew blood. Before this incident there were a couple times we'd find her basking in the sun on the wall or in our garden. I made sure to catify rhe house, build little bridges or platforms for her to explore the house safely. 4 years later, she's still as curious as ever and honestly those tiny diys have saved me so much worry

I have a set up very much like this in my house and the first thing I did when we moved here, was block their access to the upstairs until I could make it safe. I know cats are pretty resilient and are often fine after a long fall, BUT I have no interest in being that exception.
