They make a joke out of it, but the whole situation Alan is in with Judith's new baby is pretty sad. Imagine thinking, that the baby might be yours, but you pretty much can't act on it. Because if you turn out to be wrong, you gonna destroy everything and if you turn out to be right, you still ruin a lot of things, decimating a good guy like Herb, creating tension with your son and turning your angry ex-wife into a vengeful monster, that will definitely never leave you alone now for "ruining" her new marriage. A very difficult situation...

Marin Hinkle claims to have hated her role of Judith because all she did was abuse poor Jon Cryer. I just watched her on an episode of "Law & Order: SVU" in which she and her husband adopt a black orphaned child who is shot and killed by a white supremacist. SPOILER ALERT: It's revealed later in the episode that she and her husband orchestrated the hit on their adopted son to claim the life insurance policies they made upon adopting him. I have no doubt Marin Hinkle is a fine lady in real life, but boy, is she fantastic at playing women who are so loathsome in every way.

Among all of the ex-wifes in sitcoms, Judith is so far the worst.

The whole thing with the new baby and Alan being her possible father was Judith at her absolute worst.

Poor Herb. By all accounts he's a good guy, he just married really, really poorly. Also props to Marin for playing such a B.o.W. for a decade.

I wonder if Jake is Alan's son because in one episode, four or five men who looked like an older version of Jake walked up to Judith delivering stuff while either Alan or Charlie was talking to her.

This is one of those situations where you realize that Alan's mental state got him into trouble in the first place and more than two decades later he hasn't changed and is doomed to whatever his mental condition places him in.
