My grandfather was a POW to the Japanese and was forced into slave labour building the Burma railway. Wouldn’t take a penny if they offered. Wasn’t my ordeal why should I profit off his suffering and sacrifice. This was 80 years ago too not 300

I had this conversation with my ex (a black British man of Caribbean decent). I explained that none of my family from the last 3 generations (at least) had slaves, and none of his family from the last 3 generations (at least) were ever slaves. His mouth snapped shut, and he wound his neck in.
