Tensioner is one of the most important pieces there.. next to the belt. If it was a true NTN / Japan origin you have to be happy with that. True NSK bearings are decent quality, I'd be happy with those too.

I also have this kit. That particular pump might have been made in Thailand. I called GMB customer service and they confirmed it to be the case based on the stampings. The GMB idler pulleys are probably made in a plant in Korea.

Green cogged idler is single bearing I think. Double is preferred. I had a NSK cogged bearing from a Gates kit collapse inward in the middle soon after install causing some contact with the block, luckily no damage. No response from Gates regarding this. They would likely say I installed it wrong.

These Conti kits seem better than the current Gates ones. I'll be ordering one for my next service on my Kia 👍

Hey Miles. I'm thinking of getting a Gates timing belt kit for my 2007 2.5L WRX. I have the proper Subaru water pump and thermo to go on already. The kit includes most pulleys / idlers / sprockets / tensioner etc., but I want the Gates racing belt. Is that a good way to go?

GMB is a Japanese company... now who knows in which country each bearing is made seeing that NTN has bearings made all over the world from Japan to France
