Relegating our position in the world shouldn't necessarily be bad for us.

Think about it. We would still a big country, we have important natural resources here too, we have patents and highly advanced technology, our military power if not worn out in a hypothetical war with China would still very effective en powerful, and our historical legacy as once the supuerpower will not be erased so easily. By making the right decisions we could age prety well as a country and everyone around the world would still pay high respect to us not only because of our past and remaining key level of power, but because we are a big country too.

Think about it. We are much more powerful than North Korea, yet, we don't imvade them because they have nuclear weapons that they could use towards our homeland.

Well, that could be a similar case with us, with the difference that we are a big country, with a lot of history, a glorious past, resources, patents, technology and well advance science in all aspects.

Relegating ourselves isn't necessarily bad and the world would not hate us as they do right now.
